About me: My name’s Beth. I’m a sophomore in college on the East Coast of the United States. I grew up with two older brothers and a stack of books. I’m a Jesus-follower and also an all-around nerd and book-lover. Give me a rainy day, a hot beverage, and a good book, and I’m happy as can be.
I love horses, coffee, and Lord of the Rings marathons. I also love that feeling after a long day of writing, when something that only existed in your head now has life on paper.
About my writing: I’ve now written two fantasy novels – the first is a high fantasy called The Sound of Color (info here) and the second was an urban fantasy thing with dragons that I wrote for NaNoWriMo in 2015 (post about that here). I’m currently editing the second one and someday I’d like to get it published.
About this blog: I want this website to be a place of community. A place where writers young and old can feel like they’re not alone. I post about all things writing-related, and occasionally throw in a book review.
One of the most amazing discoveries in my writing journey was when I stumbled across a blog called Cracking the WIP. It was so helpful for me to simply see how other writers did things. I hope this blog can be similar to you, and that my ramblings can offer inspiration, determination, and maybe a feeling that you’re not alone in the universe.
Find me on all the places!

Hi Beth! I’m an “old” lady writer who is also a mom. I wrote like crazy when I was a teen, living in rural south Alabama. Then I didn’t write for, like, ten years.
So, don’t stop writing, girl! Don’t give it up.
Best wishes from a fellow-writer, and here’s hoping you’ll visit me at http://www.sweetgumlife.com.
